“Implementing WCA in the Classroom” Webinar

AWFS co-hosted a 1-hour webinar on March 13, 2018 with WCA veteran educators Patrick Molzahn (Madison College) and Bert Christensen (Westosha Central High School).
This webinar provides useful ideas that you can use to implement the WCA (Woodwork Career Alliance) credentialing system in your classroom. The WCA has assembled a library of videos, training resources, and educational materials to make your job easier. Two veteran teachers who have used the WCA Skill Standards to shape their curriculum share how they manage the training and credentialing process. You will learn ways to plan and prepare your academic calendar to incorporate WCA credentials into your curriculum and practical methods to evaluate your students.
Not a trained WCA Evaluator? Don’t let that stop you! This session will show you how you can improve your training program and access resources to accomplish your goals faster and better.
About the presenters
Patrick Molzahn is the Director of the Cabinetmaking & Millwork program at Madison College (Wisconsin). Prior to becoming an educator, Patrick ran his own business for several years specializing in architectural millwork and custom furniture. He is a founding board member of the Woodwork Career Alliance (WCA) and in 2008, Patrick received the distinguished “Educator of the Year” award from the Woodworking Machinery Industry Association (WMIA). His writings have appeared in many publications and he recently authored the fifth edition revision of the classic textbook Modern Cabinetmaking.
Bert Christensen has had a love for woodworking since childhood and has taught woodworking for nearly 20 years at Central High School in Westosha, Wisconsin where he is currently chair of his department. He was one of the first certified Woodwork Career Alliance (WCA) Skill Evaluators and assisted in the development and promotion of the textbook Modern Cabinetmaking, 5th Edition (Molzahn, 2015). He received his BS in Science/Biology Education from University of Wisconsin, Parkside and an MS in Technology Education from University of Wisconsin, Platteville.
