“InDepth with Laurence Fishburne” segment will air on public television stations

AWFS, AWI, WCA Partner to Produce Career Awareness Video

The Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers® (AWFS®), the Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI), and the Woodwork Career Alliance (WCA) have come together to produce a video about careers in the wood industry in partnership with the “In Depth with Laurence Fishburne” program. The six-minute feature video will be distributed to public television stations nationwide beginning in June. In Depth programs are “short form” videos which cover many topics and feature an introduction by actor Laurence Fishburne. AWFS®Fair 2021 Education Program Accepting Topic and Speaker Applications

Anaheim, Calif. – November 9, 2020 — The 2021 AWFS®Fair show cycle is under way and the Call for Proposals for the show’s “College of Woodworking Knowledge” (CWWK) educational seminar program is now open. Technical experts, exhibitors with an educational segment, business owners and managers, consultants and other wood products manufacturing professionals are invited to submit proposal ideas for seminars to be held at the AWFS®Fair, July 20-23, 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Industry Rallies to Support Woodworking Teachers and Students During Pandemic

In July, the Society of Wood Manufacturing (SWM), a Southern California industry-education focused group, identified a challenge that many high school woodworking teachers would soon face as the new school year began: how to teach woodworking while students are distance learning due to the pandemic.
